Breakout session | Stage 1

Host: UN Climate Change

COVID19 has not stopped the climate emergency. In fact – while the world continues to grapple with the impacts of the pandemic – 2020 is poised to become yet another year of temperature records and devastating weather extremes.

But while we are standing at the brink of run-away climate change, there is another reality about this moment: Climate change has moved from the fringe to the center of global attention in a matter of years. Action is happening in every country, every sector, every household.

Rather than standing at the brink of apocalypse, many sectors in the economy and society are at the brink of moving from gradual to seismic change. In this session we’ll discuss what is necessary to allow this transition to happen – and happen even faster. We’ll highlight stories of people creating change – and explain how everyone can become part of the solution.
