The world is at a pivotal point in the climate crisis. Climate impacts – from devastating floods and storms, to severe droughts and wildfires – are getting worse, and greenhouse gas emissions are still rising to record levels. But there is also good news. We know what needs to be done, to cut emissions in half this decade and help the vulnerable adapt to climate impacts. And we have the technology and the tools already available. The challenge is to scale up these solutions and make them available to all people, not just those that can afford them. If we seize this moment for climate action, the benefits right across the SDGs will be vast. From jobs, to human health, to justice, equality and empowerment of the most marginalized. Selwin Hart hails from the highly climate-vulnerable island nation of Barbados, and leads the Secretary-General’s climate team. Join him to unpack the big challenges, and even bigger opportunities ahead.
